Device Binding Explained

Device binding is a security feature that ties your license to a specific computer.

When you activate FeedFlux Desktop:

  1. The app generates a Hardware ID from your computer’s components
  2. This Hardware ID is sent to our server with your license key
  3. The license becomes bound to that Hardware ID
  4. Future activations check that the Hardware ID matches

The Hardware ID is created from a combination of:

  • CPU identifier
  • Motherboard serial number
  • Other hardware characteristics

This creates a unique fingerprint for your computer without collecting personal information.

ReasonBenefit
Prevent license sharingEnsures fair use of subscription
Protect your accountOthers can’t use your license without your device
Reduce piracyMaintains sustainable business model
One-device simplicityClear rules, no confusion
ChangeEffect
Different computerMust transfer license first
Major hardware change (motherboard)May need to re-bind
Minor hardware change (RAM, storage)Usually no effect
Operating system reinstallUsually no effect
Virtual machine migrationMay change Hardware ID

You can move your license to a different device:

  1. Deactivate from your dashboard (Account Information → Deactivate Device)
  2. Activate on the new device with your license key
  3. License is now bound to the new device

There’s no hard limit on transfers for legitimate use (new computer, hardware upgrade, etc.).

  • Hardware ID is a hash (one-way transformation)
  • We cannot reverse it to identify your specific hardware
  • It’s used only for license verification
  • Not shared with third parties
